Tibbie Lynch was recently astonished to discover that she has been a classroom teacher for 35 years, especially given that she feels like she is still trying to figure out how to do it. During this span of time she has taught students from grades 9-12 and (during her first gig) at the college level. She has a B.A. in English from Florida State University, an M.A. from Sam Houston State University, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. She taught at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii for 15 years and has been teaching for 6 years in Latin America, most recently at Country Day School in Costa Rica. She was fortunate to have many excellent teachers and equally outstanding colleagues and it has been from both of these groups and from her students, rather than from books, that she has learned to teach. As readers of this blog already know, she is married to Harry Grzelewski who has also been her principal for the last seven years. In August, she and Harry will become grandparents for the first time.
Tibbie has been the subject of, and now the guest blogger in, the 21st Century Pygmalion series.
